Dear humans,
Ginger Grrrl here. Did you know that some feline-loving experts have identified twenty-five towns as the top “Cat Loving” towns in the USA?
To come up with the top cities for kitties, Aimee Gilbreath, President of PetSmart Charities, and her crew used two factors. These were: 1) the number of people who adopted cats at PetSmart Charities adoption events, and 2) the dollar amount humans in each city spent on pet products.[1] This month, they shared their results with us.
Here are the top 25 cat-loving towns they chose [1]:
- Lexington, KY
- Green Bay, WI
- Mount Juliet, TN
- Spokane, WA
- Falls Church, VA
- New York, NY
- Clarksville, TN
- Fort Collins, CO
- Alhambra, CA
- Daly City, CA
- Plymouth Meeting, PA
- North Canton, OH
- Plattsburgh, NY
- Sioux City, IA
- Kennesaw, GA
- San Juan Capistrano, CA
- Fairless Hills, PA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Oviedo, FL
- Flagstaff, AZ
- Commerce Township, MI
- Springfield, IL
- Evansville, IN
- Johnson City, TN
- Kensington, MD

The Petsmart Charities note that many of the towns listed are suburbs of larger cities like Detroit, Atlanta, and Nashville. Also, many are small towns, including college towns.
You probably know that animal shelters in the USA are overrun with cats and kittens who need to be adopted. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking about packing my bags and moving to a cat-loving town!
Love, Ginger

Your research has sparked my curiosity about which areas in England have the highest number of cats, apparently it’s London ! Which came as a surprise. I had imagined that it might have been a more rural area.
London is by far one of the most challenging places for any small animal, especially in the streets and roads.
Thank you for sharing the details relating to United States.
( I wonder how many cats are called ‘Lexi’ ? )
😺
In this case, most of the town were suburbs of big cities, presumably with lots of humans and a bit more space. Do you think there are more cats living in the outskirts rather than the inner city? Thanks for sharing!
