Shadow

This story is from Flo from Lyon, France:

After my previous kitty girl passed away from kidney disease on Christmas 2014, I was devastated and so sad. I didn’t want another cat. But a few years later, I started to miss having a cat in my life and in my home. I’m a cat person and I have had cats since my childhood.

In April, 2017, a coworker found Shadow at an abandoned farm and with her mom. No siblings were found. The cat mom and baby Shadow went to a shelter to finish their nursing time.

I decided to adopt Shadow before meeting her. I adopted her in June, 2017, and the poor little one was covered with fleas. We went to the vet asap. The vet decided based on an estimate of her teeth growth that it was on March 15th.

I took the task of taming him, so he could one day find another forever home. After about a week, we were able to catch him playing with the toys that we left for him. Eventually, he began to accept me. I still wasn’t able to touch him, but I was able to go near him. He has never shown aggression toward the other pets or my husband and I.

We knew we had to wait for Jazz to be ready. He gradually developed trust. It took a few more weeks just to get him to play with his humans. A few weeks after that, we began to slowly introduce our other cats to him, beginning with our friendly cat Tigger. By this time, I knew that I’d never be able to give Jazz away.

Flo continues:

I adopted Shadow in June,  2017. She is my 4th kitty.  I’ve had one at each time in my life: Mr Moustache (passed away in 1980); Fripounette (kitty girl who passed away en 1994); Sweetie (kitty girl who passed away in 2014); and Shadow. The name ” Shadow” was chosen by my twin nieces who are both french and British (my brother lives in UK).

Since Shadow came into my life, she has been my sunshine. Shadow and I go to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Macon (60 km from Lyon) every two weeks. She hates so much the carrier but she loves to be at grandma and grandpa’s, where she is allowed to play in the garden (under my supervision).

Shadow loves to watch TV (I put for her YT birds videos). She is very shy and hates strangers and panics when she ears the door bell. She is also a lap cat and follows me everywhere. Each time I come home after work she welcomes me with purrs and leg rubbing. Shadow is a treat addict, waking me up at 3 or 4 am for treats.

Shadow’s adoption was the best decision I’ve made.
